I'm originally from Phoenix, AZ. I moved to LA in 2008 to attend UCLA, where I studied psychology and linguistics.
I grew up playing soccer and still play on a co-ed team. I also played lacrosse at UCLA and coach here at ESHS!
I have a younger sister, and while we do have a few things in common, we really couldn't be more different.
Prior to teaching, I worked in social media marketing for an entertainment agency, doing content creation and copywriting for films and TV shows (like How to Train Your Dragon 2 and a bunch of Showtime shows like Shameless).
I fully commit to spirit week at school. I love any excuse to dress up or wear a costume.
My last name rhymes with "llama," and I've really leaned into it since becoming a teacher (and using my last name more).
I love reading (duh). Favorite books include the Harry Potter series, Pride and Prejudice, The Boys in the Boat, Homegoing, Everything I Never Told You, Little Fires Everywhere, The Great Gatsby...
I watch way too much TV (currently watching or rewatching): Doctor Who, Queer Eye, Orphan Black, The Office,Parks & Rec, Younger, Friends, The Good Place, and Stranger Things
I love music and going to concerts. Favorite artists: Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, Bleachers, , Lizzo, Phoebe Bridgers, MisterWives, Blink-182, Andrew McMahon, Chvrches, Haim, Ingrid Michaelson
I nerd out over a lot of things like Marvel, Star Wars, Hamilton/musical theater, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Wonder Woman...the list goes on. However, I'm usually behind on movies, so no spoilers please!
I listen to podcasts whenever I can, and I integrate them into lessons whenever possible. I'll tell you when to bring your headphones! My favorites are 99% Invisible, The Allusionist, Ask Me Another, Pod Save America, Radiolab, and The Moth.
I love to cook and bake. I am that person who posts pictures of her food on Instagram...
My favorite ice cream flavor is Chocolate Malted Crunch from RiteAid.
I'm full of fun facts (but I've been told I should let other people tell me they're fun).
I personally don't have any pets or children, but you will most likely see multiple pictures of my friends' pets and babies this year.
You will probably learn more about me than you want to know this year, but that's only because I want to get to know you, too!
As you can see, I like a lot of things, but here are a few things I don't like:
students asking if they missed anything when they were absent (answer: yes, yes you did)
